Infrastructure

Located at a prime location in western suburbs of Mumbai, KKCE is well connected to the main city and the suburbs. It is housed in a spacious, well ventilated building and has an ambient atmosphere conducive for learning. It is equipped with state of art infrastructure. Keeping in tune with our overall culture of sustainability and with support from UGC, we were the first B.Ed college to switch to solar power through our in-house Solar Power Generation Plant (2014). We added Groundwater Harvesting systems on our campus in the year 2019. Physical Facilities of the college include Method Rooms, Computer Lab, Language Lab, Psychology Lab, Lecture Halls, Ph.D room, Conference Room, Resource Rooms, a spacious Staff Room, Lunch Room, Common Room for Girls & Boys, Music Room, and facilities for indoor and outdoor games. The Science Lab and Sports facility is a shared facility with the school on campus.

Policy & procedure for infrastructural maintenance

Some of the highlights of our infrastructure are:

• Smart classrooms well equipped with projectors , smart-boards and whiteboards
• Major part of the campus is air-conditioned, especially the different rooms/labs
• Well equipped seminar/lecture hall with effective sound systems
• A well stocked, updated and digitized Library with its own blog and website
• CCTV monitored campus
• A terrace garden
• Canteen
• A Hydraulic Lift (significant given the age of the building)

Maintenance of Infrastructure:
The college is a small entity and hence we have always followed sustainable practices for maintaining our infrastructure. We follow the policy of self-reliance and most of the physical facilities (like Method Rooms, Computer Lab, Language Lab, Lecture Halls, Solar Panels, etc.) are maintained by the support staff and technical staff. Library is maintained by the Librarian and the Library Assistant. The institution has Annual Maintenance Contracts for the website, air conditioners, fire extinguishers and pest control.

Lab facilities

Language lab
The college has well equipped language lab with desktops with accessories and words worth software which is a popular software for English language learning. Few teacher educators and students are trained in English Development Programme using the Words Worth English language lab and available to assist other students in learning the language.

Computer lab
The college is one of the oldest institutions to have its own full-fledged computer lab with all the latest softwares. The lab is equipped to cater to 20 students at any given time and has full time technical assistant. It’s a browsing centre with excellent WIFI connectivity.

Mathematics lab
The Maths lab has several teaching aids as well as manipulatives that can generate interest in mathematics and develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. The lab associates with Navnirmiti Eduqualiy, Mumbai which is an organization for production of low cost teaching aids for maths and science education.

Science Lab
The science lab has several teaching aids, equipments and chemicals as per different board syllabus are available in the lab for scientific experiments. The student teachers can issue those for their practice teaching lessons in the schools. The lab also has a mobile lab where student teachers can conduct their experiments.

Psychology lab
The psychology lab is well equipped with valuable collection of psychological and educational tests and apparatus. Several paper pencil tests that are now popular are also included in the lab. Some of the psychological tests like teacher aptitude tests, teacher attitude tests and personality tests such as 16 PF are specifically useful for teacher profiling. The lab is useful for the counselor and our research students.
