Student Clubs

“Children have to be educated; but they have also to be left to educate themselves”

-Ernest Dimnet

Education cannot be confined to the four walls of a classroom. Also, learning is much more meaningful if it is related to one’s immediate environment. In accordance with this philosophy, we at KKCE introduced Student Clubs in various methods from the academic year 2012 – 2013. Every student-teacher becomes a part of any one club (the choice is based on methods)  at the beginning of the year.

The objective of our clubs is not only to enlighten the prospective teachers on ways in which they can use community resources and help their students develop love and appreciation for the subject, but also to arouse the innate creativity, innovation and interest in every student. Edutainment rather than simply education is the motto. Such education can leave a lasting imprint on the students’ attitudes and dispositions towards the subject as well as learning as a whole.

The clubs indulge in diverse, stimulating and fun assortment of activities. Visits, film-screening, quizzes, talks, etc. are planned throughout the year to keep students engaged. Some of the exciting activities organized in the last few years at KKCE’s clubs include:

  • Visit to ‘Heras Institute of Indian History’ located on the campus of St. Xaviers College organized by History Club
  • Visit to RBI’s Mint Museum and Chedda Specialities Foods Pvt. Ltd organized by the Commerce and Economics Club
  • Film screening of the movie ‘Manthan’ (1976) which was a multi-club activity
  • Visit to Sundaram factory which was also a multi-club activity
  • Annual Food Fair which is organized by the Commerce and Economics Club
  • ‘Lingua Franca’ event of the Language Club which had an interesting mix of multi-lingual activities
  • An annual Exhibition of student-made Science Teaching Aids by the Science Club in addition to Earth Day celebrations
  • ‘Mathemagica’ event of the Math club
  • ‘Fun with Geography’ organized by the Geography club

The most distinctive feature of our clubs is that they are managed by our student-teachers. The activities are a manifestation of their imagination, creativity, and resourcefulness.

Who says learning can’t be fun and exciting?
